A tribute to the brilliant English composer, pianist and broadcaster Billy Mayerl, acknowledged master of novelty piano and light music. Steve Law plays a selection of Mayerl’s most inventive and delightful piano music from his famous Marigold of 1927 and Railroad Rhythm (1938) to rarities like Puppets Suite and Robots. Virtuosic jazzy stride piano is fused with English lyricism. A rare chance to hear this wonderful, uplifting and nostalgic music from the 1920s and 1930s.

Haruko Seki performs all 24 of Chopin’s Preludes from Op.28. An unforgettable journey through every major and minor key and a myriad of emotions. Biographer Jeremy Nicholas writes that “Even on their own, the 24 Preludes would have ensured Chopin’s claim to immortality.”
There is also beautiful music from Saint-Saens and one of the greatest 20th Century ballets – Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet.
